Board Certified Dermatopathologist

Dr. Scott Acker is board certified in both Anatomic Pathology and Dermatopathology. He completed his medical education at the University of South Alabama, Mobile, Alabama, and his residency training at Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC), Charleston, South Carolina. He completed a dermatopathology fellowship at MUSC, Charleston, South Carolina in 1998.

Dr. Scott Acker served in the United States Armed Forces from 1987 to 1997

He was Assistant Professor at the Departments of Pathology and Dermatology, Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, from 1999 to 2001, and Associate Professor at the Departments of Pathology and Dermatology, University of Alabama at Birmingham, Alabama, from 2005 to 2008.

He served in several administrative capacities including member of the Board of Directors Dermpath Diagnostics, Palm Beach, Florida, Program Director - Dermatopathology Fellowship, UAB, Birmingham, Alabama, and Director – Dermatopathology Section, Department of Pathology, MCW, Milwaukee, WI.

Dr. Acker is a visiting professor at the Department of Dermatology, Tulane University, New Orleans, Louisiana, and Department of Dermatology, Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

During the course of his career, Dr. Acker has received honors and awards, as well as research and training grants. He has written and co-authored several publications and book chapters related to diseases of the skin.
