Dr. Wilborn attended South Carolina State University earning a B.S. degree in chemistry in 1959.

He received his M.D. degree from Meharry Medical College, Nashville, TN in 1963. After completing his internship at Homer G. Phillips Hospital, St. Louis, MO, he returned to Meharry to begin a residency in Internal Medicine. Three months into his residency he was drafted into the United States Air force. While stationed at Forbes Air Force base, Topeka, KS he became interested in dermatology under the tutelage of Dr. Chester Lessenden of Topeka. He completed a Dermatology Residency at Northwestern University Medical Center, Chicago, IL in 1970.

He began a private practice in dermatology in Atlanta, GA in 1970, becoming the first African-American Dermatologist in the South. He has a special interest in hair and scalp.

He is currently a Clinical Associate Professor of Dermatology at Emory University School of Medicine Department of Dermatology. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology and is certified by the American Board of Dermatology.
