Answering your concerns about what to expect
When you choose a dermatologist, you should feel completely at ease with the care you receive. To help you feel comfortable with our practice, here are the answers to a few of the questions our patients ask us most often.
If your question isnt answered here, please contact us for help.
Q: How much experience do your doctors have?
A: The doctors at Family Dermatology average more than 15 years of hands-on experience.
Q: How quickly can I get an appointment?
A: Family Dermatology doesnt think you should have to wait to get skin care. We can usually schedule an appointment within 2-3 days, even for new patients.
Q: When can I get my lab results? A: Theres nothing more unsettling than having to wait a week or more to find out the results of a biopsy or other lab test. Family Dermatology uses a special automation system that speeds results of your pathology report back to us - much faster than most practices.
Q: Which insurance plans do you accept?
A: Family Dermatology accepts most private insurance plans as well as Medicare. If you need more information about whether our practice participates in your insurance plan, call our office manager at 800-332-0751.
Q: How much does an office visit cost?
A: If you are covered under a participating insurance plan, youll pay your standard co-payment. Check your insurance providers information for details on co-payment amounts. If you do not have insurance to cover your visit, you can expect to pay $80-110.
Q: Does insurance cover cosmetic procedures?
A: Unfortunately, most of the time, insurance companies do not cover cosmetic procedures. You should contact your insurance provider to find out its policy.
Q: One of your locations is close to my home and another is close to my office.
Can I use them both?
A: One of the benefits of being a Family Dermatology patient is that you can choose from six locations around the metro Atlanta area. And its no trouble at all for you to go to a different location anytime you want. Once you become a Family Dermatology patient, we load your medical record into our computer network, where it can be accessed by any Family Dermatology clinic you visit. So its easy for you to change clinics, or switch back and forth as often as you like.
Q: I havent seen the doctor in a year. Can you still call in a prescription for me?
A: If its been a while since your last visit, youll need to come in and see the doctor to get a prescription. We require this for your safety. It gives the doctor an opportunity to evaluate how youre doing and to be sure that your old prescription is still appropriate.
Q: How long will it take a nurse to call me back?
A: We know that you want your health concerns addressed quickly, so we do our best to return all calls within 24 hours. However, if the nurse is especially busy, it can take up to 48 hours.
